Rail Transport Can Create 10,000 Jobs Yearly- Union

Rail transport can create 10,000 jobs annually, if revived, says Mr Raphael Okoro, the President, Nigeria Union of Railway Workers (NUR).
Okoro told newsmen in Abuja yesterday that reviving the system was “very possible”, if government mustered the political will to create a functional and effective railway system.
According to him, the rail system is very key to the growth of every nation even though it is capital and labour intensive.
Okoro, therefore, advised the government to make the revival of the rail system a priority, stressing that if government spent N20 billion on one road, It would soon go bad due to the weight of the goods.

RAILWAY POLICE SUSPECT INSIDERS’ HAND IN HEISTS

Thefts in parcel compartments of Ranchi-bound trains passing through Uttar Pradesh have been a recurring incident for the past two weeks. The reason that comes to mind first is flawed arrangements, but railway police personnel have reasons of their own to cite.

"There have been several cases of thefts in recent times, but they are something more than mere thefts. There are many angles involved here - irregularities on part of parcel agents, rivalry among parcel agents, involvement of insiders. Even if to a certain extent, security lapses are not the only factor working behind these thefts," said a railway police requesting anonymity.

Siemens RailFusion to turn Big Data into Intelligence

Siemens launches RailFusion Big Data Asset Monitoring Software that monitors and analyses Data Points across an entire RailRoad Infra

Siemens, at Railway Interchange-2015 held at Minneapolis between October 4-7, introduced RailFusion, a software solution that monitors and analyzes data points across an entire railroad’s infrastructure including onboard and wayside assets like road crossings and end-of-train devices.

“On any given railroad there are trillions of data points being created by train systems and devices along a line, but this data is simply not being put into action,” said John Paljug, head of Siemens Rail Automation. “RailFusion brings all of these disparate data points together in one system and puts intelligence behind them, allowing railroads to make more informed, efficient decisions about how to operate and maintain their systems specific to their needs.”

Railways plan green toilets for clean trains, stations

For the first time in Indian Railways, a set of such toilets has been installed on a trial basis in one of the AC-I coaches of Dibrugarh Rajdhani.

NEW DELHI: Stinking toilets in trains may soon become a thing of the past. Indian Railways is gearing up to replace all conventional toilets in the trains with "bio-vacuum toilets". Officials said these environment-friendly toilets consume less water and also help in preventing corrosion of rail tracks.

For the first time in Indian Railways, a set of such toilets has been installed on a trial basis in one of the AC-I coaches of Dibrugarh Rajdhani at an estimated cost of about Rs 3 lakh. Officials said after completion of successful trials, around 80 such toilets will be installed in a Shatabdi Express for which the department may float global tenders inviting multinational companies from USA, Germany and Spain.

According to the Delhi division officials, the vacuum toilets installed in the trains in foreign countries have a retention tank placed under the coach. It holds all human waste that is flushed out of the toilet. The toilet then needs to be evacuated at terminal stations, making involvement of municipal corporations necessary in the process.

First salary of 7th Pay Commission is expected on 1st April, 2016

New Delhi: The Seventh Pay Commission report is awaited, the new pay scales will be applicable to Central government employees with effect from January 2016.
This is a very rough average because for senior level officers, like the Cabinet Secretary or officials at the secretary level, the payback could increase by more than 50%.50 lakh central government employees and 56 lakh pensioners including dependents hope to get this gift from April next year. The revised pay scales are likely to be implemented retrospectively starting 1 January 2016.Arun Jaitley_2_1_0
Many commentators say that the average increase in basic fair pay for all government employees will be in the region of 40-45%.
As the Pay Commission numbers come through there could be a 30-40 per cent increase for each central government employee.
An increase of salary and allowances would boost middle class central government employees to spend more time with their families for marketing.
The economy would get a major boost from a pickup in consumption, resulting from an increase in salaries but the flip side to the hike will be a spike in inflation.

Center: Seventh Pay Commission To Propose Higher HRA

New Delhi: The Seventh Pay Commission is likely to propose to increase House Rent Allowance (HRA) of central government employees, besides their basic salaries.

By giving House Rent Allowance hikes, the Pay Commission is likely to seek to encourage property owners to rent out their properties, reduce the shortage of dwellings and to provide ‘housing for all central government employees’.

Besides the basic salary, a large portion of central government employees’ salary is the House Rent Allowance; some changes will be made in that category this time.

Sep 11, 2015 02:00 am, New Delhi : With the amount of dearness allowance payable to the central government employees going up to 119 percent of their basic pay, the Congress has said that the time has to come merge the two.
“If the government of the day denies this demand of the employees, then it would be a big injustice to them,” said Congress spokesperson and former union minister Ajay Maken who also represented a Lok Sabha constituency in the past that has a strong section of these employees as voters.
He said that a pay commission normally orders a 40 percent hike in the basic pay.
