More cycle tracks to tech parks

It’s not just RMZ Infinity. Bagmane Tech Park, Embassy Golf Links and Millennium Tower Old Philip Building may also be connected by dedicated cycle lanes to the nearest metro stations.

U.A. Vasanth Rao, spokesperson for Namma Metro, said that they had received three other proposals apart from RMZ Infinity for dedicated cycle lanes. “Baiyappanahalli cycle track is a pilot project. We have already placed cycles and even bikes at Baiyappanahalli. By 11 am, all bikes and cycles are taken almost every day. We are ready to partner with anybody to improve last-mile connectivity to our stations,” he said.

Cycle tracks are being planned from Vivekananda station to Bagmane Tech Park via Suranjandas Road, from Indiranagar metro station to Embassy Golf Links via 100 Feet Road and from Ulsoor to Trinity Circle metro station.

Basavaraj Kabade, Executive Engineer, Traffic Engineering Cell, BBMP, said that building cycle tracks on some of these roads is a big challenge as the roads are narrow. “But we are working towards getting a single lane on the pavement as a cycle lane,” he said.
