Don't believe WhatsApp circulated new ,the accident of Navjivan Express ,says Rlys

Chennai: With people frantically circulating a railway circular on WhatsApp, department sources debunked the circular and said some schemes are already under implementation and the rest are not yet confirmed.

Therefore, Railway sources point out, such circulars normally lack credibility. They advised the public not to get carried away by them. Instead, they insist, go to railway website for valid information.

For example, another senior Railway official pointed the accident of Navjivan Express which took place some four years ago. However, photos and materials got circulated in WhatsApp two months ago as if the accident was a recent one. "We even had to issue a circular that there was no truth in that message," reminded the official.

A senior Railway official pointed out that schemes like getting a wake-up call shortly before reaching the destination - so that the passenger does not miss his station - is already under implementation. The passenger has to send his PNR number, destination station and other information as SMS to 139 for getting a wake up call, said Railway sources.

Similarly, the paperless ticket system is already under implementation in many stations. However, information like providing 50 per cent refund on cancellation of Tatkal tickets, increasing number of coaches in Shatabdi and Rajdhani trains has no validity.

The general public are requested to log on to official website of the Railways for more information, said the railway source.
