High patronage expected for special day-time express train

The special express trains between Erode-Chennai Egmore sector being operated by the Southern Railway since September 23 in deference to sustained demands from commuters is expected to attain maximum occupancy gradually.

The train no. (06027) departs at 4.45 a.m. from Erode Junction and reaches the destination at 1.30 p.m.. In the return direction, the train no. (06028) starts at Chennai Egmore at 3.00 p.m. and reaches Erode at 11.20 p.m.
The day-time special train that has stoppages at Salem, Attur, Vridhachalam, Villupuram, and Tambaram stations will be useful to the business community in Erode, C.S. Gowthaman, Member of Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committee, who had been articulating the public demand at every meeting of the Committee, said.

Barring Thursdays and Saturdays, the special trains will be operated for the rest of the week. The extent of patronage will be a determinant for the Railways to accord permanency to the service, Mr. Gowthaman said.
