Central Railway Registers Ticket Checking Earnings of Rs.20.74 Crore in May-2017
Central Railway conducts intensive campaign against ticketless and irregular travellers. In its endeavor to provide better services to its bonafide rail users and also to curb the ticketless travel, Central Railway has regularly taken innovative steps. Senior Officers are closely monitoring the revenue loss due to ticketless travel and such other irregularities.
In the month of May 2017, a total of 3.66 lakh cases of ticketless/irregular travel and unbooked luggage were detected as against 2.22 lakh cases in the month of May 2016 registering an increase of 64.45 % in number of cases.
An amount of Rs.20.74 crore was realized from them in May 2017 as fine against Rs.11.30 crore in May 2016 registering an increase of 83.55 %.
During the period April 2017 to May 2017, a total of 7.25 lakh cases of ticketless/irregular travel and unbooked luggage were detected as against 5.30 lakh cases during the corresponding period last year, thus registering an increase of 36.86% in number of cases. An amount of Rs.41.22 crore was realized from them as fine against Rs.29.10 crore during last year, thus registering an increase of 41.67% in earnings.
During the month of May-2017, 710 cases of transfer of reserved journey tickets were detected and Rs.6.11 lakh were recovered as penalty.
