161 WVMs INSTALLED OVER WESTERN RAILWAY

20 Water Vending Machines (WVMs) installed over Mumbai Suburban section of Western Railway
37 more to be installed soon...
In order to make available potable RO processed drinking water easily available at affordable prices, Western Railway has installed 161 Water Vending Machines (WVMs) at stations o­n all six divisions under its jurisdiction. Out of these 20 such WVMs are installed over the Mumbai Suburban section from Marine Lines to Dahanu Road. The good news is that 37 more such machines will be installed soon o­n various suburban stations.

            In a Press Release issued by Shri Ravinder Bhakar, Chief Public Relations Officer, Western Railway, it is stated that in pursuit of the Railway Board policy guidelines, these Water Vending Machines are being installed by IRCTC. 321 machines have been sanctioned for W.Rly, out of which 166 have been received and till date, 161 machines have been commissioned for the convenience of passengers. In the Mumbai Suburban section o­ne each Water Vending Machine has been installed at Borivali, Dahisar, Mahim, Elphinstone Road, Mahalaxmi, Naigaon, Dahanu Road, Matunga Road, Saphale and Kelve Road stations and two each at Charni Road, Khar Road, Lower Parel, Palghar and Marine Lines stations. 37 more such machines are planned to be installed at Mahim, Naigaon, Saphale, Vangaon, Kelve, Vaitarna, Andheri, Dadar, Virar, Nalasopara, Bhayander, Vasai Road, Malad, Kandivali, Goregaon, Churchgate, Bandra, Mira Road, Santacruz, Jogeshwari, Vile Parle, Grant Road and Boisar stations. Drinking water from these Vending Machines can be availed as 'refill' or can be purchased 'with containers' also, in different quantities, the rates which are tabulated as under:

This venture has been well received and appreciated by the passengers, wherein, now they can avail RO processed water at very reasonable rates as compared to the bottled drinking water.
