Welfare committee seeks more facilities for passengers at Davangere Railway Station

South Western Railway Passengers Welfare Committee general secretary Rohit Jain has appealed to South Western Railway General Manager Ashok Kumar Gupta to ensure more facilities at the Davangere Railway Station, including provision for ticket vending machine on platform 2 to avoid rush at the main ticket counters.

In a memorandum submitted to Mr. Ashok Kumar Gupta here recently, Mr. Rohit Jain has said that provision should be made for a food court, a cafeteria and drinking water facility on platform 2.

Steps should be taken to provide additional toilets for passengers on platform 1 and new toilets should be constructed on platform 2. He said that there was a need to build a second foot-overbridge. Amenities such as ramps, battery operated cars, wheelchairs should be created for physically challenged persons, apart from providing luggage trolleys.

The committee has demanded a waiting room with TV, more seating arrangements, including a VIP lounge, CCTV surveillance in and around the station and enhanced police patrolling for safety of passengers during night.
