भारतीय रेलवे ने साल 2004 में शुरू की गई स्कीम, जिसमें स्वैच्छिक सेवानिवृत्ति (VRS) लेने वाले कर्मचारियों के बच्चों को नौकरी दी जाती है उस पर फिलहाल रोक लगा दी है। साथ ही साथ यह पता लगाने के लिए कि यह स्कीम संवैधानिक रूप से सही है या नहीं, इसके लिए सुप्रीम कोर्ट का दरवाजा खटखटाने का भी फैसला किया गया है। लिबरलाइज्ड एक्टिव रिटायरमेंट स्कीम फॉर गारंटीड एम्प्लॉयमेंट फॉर सेफ्टी स्टाफ (LARSGESS) की शुरुआत साल 2004 में की गई थी, उस वक्त नीतीश कुमार रेल मंत्री थे। रेल मंत्रालय के एक आदेश का पालन करते हुए इस स्कीम को पिछले महीने रोक दिया गया। सभी क्षेत्रीय रेलवे को एक ऑर्डर जारी किया गया है, जिसमें लिखा है, ‘अगला आदेश आते तक के लिए LARSGESS को रोक दिया जाए।’

PATNA: The railways' ambitious move to execute the pending projects on a cost-sharing basis with the states is yet to bear desired results in many states, including Bihar where certain projects are hanging fire because of resource crunch.

According to a Railway Board official, Jharkhand and Karnataka have positively responded to the railways' initiative. While the Jharkhand government has agreed to share 50% of the estimated cost of the railway projects, Karnataka is spending about Rs 2,500 crore on the railway projects, he said and added Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Kerala governments were also funding the railway projects in their states.

The new Unified Payment Interface (UPI) based facility will enable quick and simplified payment transactions for passengers through few clicks on their smartphones.

You can now pay for your train tickets using Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM) app at any rail ticket counter.

Indian Railways had integrated the new Unified Payment Interface (UPI) based facility on December 1, to enable quick and simplified payment transactions for passengers through few clicks on their smartphones.
The BHIM app provision is already functional for passengers who book their tickets through IRCTC, the online booking platform of the national transporter.

RPF constable saves passenger’s life at Chennai Central railway station

CHENNAI: A Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable on duty at the Chennai Centralrailway station saved the life of a passenger who fell between the train and the platform while trying to board the Chennai Central - Thiruvananthapuram Central Weekly Superfast Express on Sunday afternoon.

According to a railway release, as the train (No12697) started to move, a passenger identified as B Verma tried to board the S-13 coach. He fell down.

RPF constable K Jayaprakash, who was present on the platform number 6, rushed to the rescue of the passenger and pulled him out.

The passenger was given first aid and admitted to Apollo Hospitals emergency medical centre at the station. Later, he was shifted to nearby Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital for further treatment, a release said.

Central Railway shows the way in safe train operations



Nagpur: With safety super star awards to front line staff coupled with quick redressal of complaints by loco pilots through unusual occurrence reporting system (UORS), the Nagpur Division of Central Railway has shown the way for others regarding safe train operations.

"Enhancing motivational level by presenting weekly awards to keymen, trackmen and other safety category staff for their alertness, followed by series of welfare measures like health camps for staff and families, accessibility of senior officials, solving grievances in time has paid off," says divisional railway manager (DRM) Brijesh Kumar Gupta.

MCL, SER on toes to meet railway project deadline

HEMGIR (SUNDARGARH):Under pressure to start coal dispatch from December-end, the South Eastern Railway (SER) and the Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL) are running against time to meet the deadline to operationalise the ambitious rail line project from Jharsuguda to Sardega in Sundargarh district. Yet, the commissioning of the project may be extended by at least a fortnight. It is learnt that the project is being monitored by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

The rail transport infrastructure project envisages to enhance coal dispatch from MCL’s Gopalpur-Manoharpur coal block under Basundhara-Garjanbahal Area in Hemgir block. The MCL is also working on capacity expansion of its Kulda Open Cast Project (KOCP) in Hemgir block from 10 MTPA to 15 MTPA. The public hearing for the expansion has been rescheduled to January 10.

To make train ticket booking facility "quick and easy", Indian Railways has introduced a facility that enables users to pay for tickets at railway counters through UPI/BHIM app. This facility was already available for passengers who wanted to book tickets online through IRCTC, the e-ticketing arm of the Railways. In a tweet, Union IT minister said, "Now you can book railway tickets and pay using UPI/BHIM App. Railway bookings becomes quick and easy."  The minister also highlighted the benefits of paying for Railway tickets through UPI/BHIM App: "No worry of losing cash and card, easy to use and supports payment through multiple banks and safe to use as no need to share bank account or credit card number."
