Shri Ram Karan Yadav, General Manager, Central Railway gave away “General Manager’s Safety Award” to 10 Central Railway staff i.e. 4 from Mumbai Division, 3 from Nagpur Division, 2 from Bhusaval Division and 1 from Solapur Division. The awards were given in appreciation of their alertness during duty, their contribution in averting untoward incidents and ensuring safety in train operations during the month August to November- 2023, in a function held at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Mumbai on 05.12.2023. The award consists of a Medal, commendation certificate, a citation of exemplary safety work and a cash award of Rs.2000/-.
Mumbai Division
- Shri SItaram Kumar, Dy. Station Manager, Igatpuri, Mumbai division while on duty on 04.11.2023, during exchange of signals, noticed hot axle in the rearend banker in the passing Goods train. The train was stopped immediately and the fire was put out with the fire extinguisher.His prompt action averted a major mishap.
- Shri Bhagwan Vithal Aandhale, Keyman, Asangaon, Mumbai division while on duty on 22.10.2023, at Asangaon station at 19.35 hrs, noticed a person with a child being dragged on the platform while trying to board a moving local train. He immediately rushed to their help,saved them from coming under the train and signalled to stop the train immediately. His presence of mind and prompt action helped save precious lives.
- Shri Chidanand Aadole, Trackman, Byculla, Mumbai division while on night patrolling duty on 30.10.2023, noticed a rail fracture on UP line between Sandhurst Road and Masjid stations. He immediately placed a fishplate and protected the track, informed all concerned and helped avert a major mishap.
- Shri Dinesh Anantram Sakhare, Senior Section Engineer,TSRT, Kurla Car Shed, Mumbai division while on night duty examining EMU rakes on 28.10.2023, noticed that the temperature of one axle of the Coach was high in comparison to other axles. A detailed examination revealed a gap between the gear case and MSU. The Coach was marked sick and his alertness and prompt action helped avert a major mishap
Nagpur Division
- Shri Vilash Rajeshwar Chaure, Train Manager, Nagpur, Nagpur division while on duty on 15.10.2023, at Chitoda station, during GDR check of a goods train, noticed the outer helical coil spring of two wagons in broken condition. He immediately informed all concerned and thus helped avert a major mishap
- Shri Vijesh Sadashiv, Trackman, Amla, Nagpur division while on duty on 24.08.2023, at Amla station, at kms 875/9-11, noticed a weld fracture. He immediately protected the track, informed all concerned and helped avert a major mishap
- Shri Arun Kumar Singh, Loco Pilot Goods, Nagpur, Nagpur division, while on duty on 20.11.2023 as Co-pilot of Goods train, noticed hot axle on the 16thwagon of a passing UP goods train. He immediately informend the Station Manager of Kohli station. The train was stopped at Kohli station where the said wagon was detached and a major mishap was averted.
Bhusaval Division
- Shri Kundan Kumar, Trackman, Maheji, Bhusaval division while on patrolling duty on 28.10.2023, noticed a rail fracture between Pardhane and Maheji stations. He immediately gave a red signal and stopped an incoming Goods train. He immediately informed all concerned and the goods train was passed with caution at 5kmph. His alertness and presence of mind helped avert a major mishap
- Shri Mahendra Singh, Loco Pilot Goods, Bhusaval, Bhusaval division, while on duty on 28.10.2023 as Loco Pilot of Goods train, noticed red flag signal by on duty Trackman near Pardhane station. He immediately applied emergency brakes and stopped the train. A rail breakage of 5 inches was noticed, The train was passed with caution at 5 kmph and a major mishap was averted.
Solapur Division
- Shri C K Siddheya, Loco Pilot Goods, Wadi, Solapur division, while on duty on 18.11.2023 as Loco Pilot of Goods train, during GDR check of a Boxan load, noticed that 4 nakal pins were missing and the CBC bottom aay of the 25thwagon was in broken condition. He immediately informed all concerned, the said wagons were detached and thus his presence of mind and prompt action helped avert a major mishap
The General Manager in his address congratulated the awardees and complimented them for their alertness and dedication towards their duties. He said that such acts of alertness and bravery will motivate others to sincerely work towards the safety of passengers.
Shri Chittaranjan Swain, Additional General Manager, Shri M S Uppal, Principal Chief Safety Officer, Shri S S Gupta, Principal Chief Operations Manager, Shri Rajesh Arora, Principal Chief Engineer, Shri Sunil Kumar, Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer, and Shri N P Singh, Principal Chief Electrical Engineer, Central Railway were present on the occasion.
