Regarding Grant of Notional increment as due on 1 July/1st January for the pensionary benefits

SUB: Grant of Notional increment as due on 1 July/1st January for the pensionary benefits to those Employees who had retired on 30th of June/31" of December before drawing the same.

Railway Board vide their letter dated 3.12.2024 quoted above have advised that in pursuance of the Order dated 06.09.2024 of the Hon'ble Supreme Court referred above, action may be taken to allow the increment on 1st July/1 January to the Central Government employees who retired/are retiring a day before it became due i.e. on 30th June/31st December and have rendered the requisite qualifying service as on the date of their superannuation with satisfactory work and good conduct for calculating the pension admissible to them.

As specifically mentioned in the Orders of the Hon'ble Supreme Court, grant of the notional increment on 1st January 1st July shall be reckoned only for the purpose of calculating the pension admissible and not for the purpose of calculation of other pensionary benefits.

In view of above Railway Board's instructions, necessary action should be taken to carefully examine each case in all respect and grant the notional increment if found due and eligible, and revise the PPO accordingly.

A list of employees retired in June in 6th PC(2006 to 2015) and in June and December in 7th PC (2016 to 2024) have been shared with all divisions/units.

All divisions/units should complete the above work of revision of PPOs and update the daily progress in the Google sheet on the given link:
