KANPUR: Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Allahabad division under North Central Railway (NCR), Harindra Rao, inspected Kanpur central railway station and railway stadium at GT road, on Wednesday, ahead of railway minister Mallikarjun Kharge’s possible visit on November 5.
According to railway officials, Mallikarjun on his visit to the city will be flagging off the new Kanpur-Amristar Express and will also be laying the foundation stone of three rail over bridges (ROBs) besides inaugurating the escalator on the city side of the station for the public.
During the inspection, the DRM asked the officials concerned to get the railway tracks cleaned and to maintain hygiene in the station.
He also asked the officials of the engineering department to correct the level of the escalator. Thereafter, Rao went to the railway stadium where the preparations for the Mallikarjun’s programme were underway.
The senior railway officials and inspector, RPF accompanied the DRM where the latter saw the drawing of the podium in making.
Talking to the media, Rao said that the programme of railway minister is not confirmed till now but it will be finalised in a day or two.
