In a major step towards environmental sustainability, the Kanchrapara Workshop, Eastern Railway, launched the “Plant4Mother” Campaign under the guidance of EnHM/KPA. The initiative, aimed at planting 4,000 trees across vacant lands of a total 46012.00 meter2 area in the workshop premises, began with a plantation drive at Anand Van, a 450 meter2 green patch.
The event was led by Honourable Chief Works Manager (CWM), Subhash Chandra, and Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS), Smt. Gopa Majumdar, along with officials and employees. Together, they planted 350 saplings, including Cassia fistula (Golden Shower), Cassia javanica (Pink Shower), and Hedge Plants. This marks the first phase of a larger effort to enhance greenery in areas like Surabhi Udyan, Kusum Kunj, Shanti Van and many more.
The diverse species planted reflect a commitment to ecological balance and biodiversity. The “Plant4Mother” Campaign highlights the workshop’s dedication to mitigating global warming while creating a sustainable and vibrant environment for future generations. This ongoing effort is a testament to Indian Railways’ resolve to lead by example in environmental conservation.
