SOUTH CARRIAGE WAY OF GOKHALE ROB AT ANDHERI OPENS FOR COMMUTERS

The South Carriage way of Gokhale Road Over Bridge (ROB) at Andheri has been opened for traffic o­n 19th January, 2019 after clearing debris from both approach ends. The re-opening of this way will benefit people and ease the movement of traffic.
According to a press release issued by Shri Ravinder Bhakar – Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, the South Carriage way of Gokhale ROB at Andheri was closed o­n 3rd July, 2018 after the fatal collapse of the cantilever side footpath. The bridge was closed for repair and strengthening during the month of September 2018. The repair work was given at the cost of Rs. 2.71 crores and has been completed o­n 10th January, 2019. The work o­n North Carriage way is in progress, for which during the repair work, o­ne lane and pedestrian way will be given to ease out traffic. Since, dismantling of old cantilever footpath is also involved, commuters may note that it will take nearly five months for re-opening of the North Carriage way.
