Sub: Implementation of working hours for the Engineering staff working at "C" Class Gates- Reg.

SCRM Union vide their Zonal PNM Sub. No.140/24/2020 has stated that large number of 'C' Class Gates is being manned by Engineering Staff who are not provided with residential accommodation by the Rallways within 0.5 Kms. of distance from the Gate. As per the norms, If the accommodation is provided by the Rallways within 0.5 Kms, they should work for 72 hours and where there is no accommodation provided by the Railways within 0.5 Kms. they should work for 60 hours only. But the above norms are not being followed and even though they are not provided with residential accommodation by the Rallways, they are being utilized for. 72 hours Instead of 60 hours i.e., 12 more working hours.

During the SCRM Union 142nd Zonal meeting, General Secretary has demanded For provision of gate lodges to the engineering staff as per extant Instructions or revise the HOER classification from EI to Continuous, as vehicular traffic has Increased considerably. GS has said that El classification is applicable when staff are provided with quarters within 0.5 kms. from their place of work.

In view of the above, it is requested to arrange to furnish the details of 'C' Class Gates not provided with quarters within 0.5 Kms duly Indicating the number of working hours against each.
