Union Cabinet ने Indian Railways की capacity बढ़ाने के लिए आठ multi-tracking projects को मंजूरी दी है। कुल अनुमानित लागत ₹20,804 करोड़ है और projects नौ राज्यों में लगभग 1,196 km अतिरिक्त railway track capacity जोड़ेंगे।
इन projects का एक package Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka और Telangana में है, जबकि दूसरा package West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh और Chhattisgarh में है। Eastern/Central package में Kharagpur–Jharsuguda fourth line, Katni–Pendra Road fourth line और Bilaspur (Uslapur)–Pendra Road third line शामिल हैं।
Projects का उद्देश्य high-density routes पर congestion कम करना, freight और passenger movement के लिए additional capacity बनाना तथा operational flexibility बढ़ाना है। Government estimates के अनुसार सभी आठ projects मिलकर freight-handling capacity में लगभग 74 million tonnes per annum की वृद्धि में मदद कर सकते हैं।
Railway Employees के लिए महत्व
यह केवल infrastructure investment नहीं है। इतने बड़े multi-tracking programme का प्रभाव लंबे समय में Engineering, P-Way, S&T, Electrical, Operating, Commercial, Construction और maintenance activities पर पड़ेगा।
Practical Implications
Construction phase में work blocks, traffic regulation, commissioning और safety coordination बढ़ सकते हैं। संबंधित divisions में manpower planning और specialised technical deployment भी महत्वपूर्ण होगा।
What to Watch Next
अब project-wise surveys, land acquisition, tendering, construction milestones और commissioning schedules महत्वपूर्ण होंगे। अधिकांश projects को 2029–30 तक पूरा करने का लक्ष्य रखा गया है।
